Popular bands that sound like a person’s name – part 1
Blondie is not Debbie Harry. Gnarls Barkley is not Ceelo Green. It seems often that people confuse the name of the band to be a singular person when its an actual group. I hear, “I like her. I like him.” In this discussion, we are focusing on bands named after a mythical character and they are not in the band.
The confusing part is there are bands like Marilyn Manson or Van Halen that are the name of the band and fronted by single person or members from that family. I this instance would be another list called bands named after a real person ( aka that person is in the band).
Bands named after a mythical person ( aka that person is not in the band):
- Blondie
- Jethro Tull
- Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Dru Hill
- Pink Floyd
- Steely Dan
- Keane
- J. Geils
- Molly Hatchet
- Gnarls Barkley
- Thin Lizzy
- Uncle Tupelo
- Veruca Salt
- Mott the Hoople
- Sweeney Todd
- JJ Fad
- Karmin
- Franz Ferdinand
- Pink Floyd
The cold hard truth is there are bands named after a mythical person and that person is not in the band. Can you think anymore to add?
John Geils was the guitarist.
