Exactly 25 years ago, the British collaboration known as M/A/R/R/S was in the middle of a three-week stay at a peak position of number 13 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with “Pump Up the Volume.” M/A/R/R/S, which takes its name from the initials of the first names of its five main collaborators, had only this one hit, as they only collaborated for the release of the double-sided single “Pump Up the Volume”/”Anitina.” The tune was also featured on the soundtrack to the film Bright Lights, Big City.
