Rock On
In March of 1974, London-born singer David Essex peaked at number 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with his only Top 40 hit, “Rock On.” A little more than 15 years later, exactly 25 years ago, soap opera star turned singer Michael Damian bested Essex’s original chart performance by taking his remake of the song to number 1, where it would spend one week.
Damian, who was best known for his role on The Young and the Restless, would follow up “Rock On” with two more Top 40 hits over the next year as “Cover Of Love” peaked at number 31 and “Was It Nothing At All” rose to number 24. These three singles were Damian’s only Top 40 hits.
