Roy Orbison at No. 1
Roy Orbison had a Hall of Fame career as a popular musician, with top 10 hits ranging from “Only the Lonely (Know How I Feel),” which hit number 2 in 1960, through “You Got It,” which hit number 9 just a few months after he passed away at the age of 52 in December 1988. Orbison’s biggest hit, of course, was “Oh, Pretty Woman,” which spent three weeks at the top of the charts in 1964. “Oh, Pretty Woman” was the second of two chart-toppers for Orbison. His first, “Running Scared,” went to number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart exactly 50 years ago today.
