She Drives Me All The Way To Number One

British band Fine Young Cannibals first hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in 1986, when “Johnny Come Home” peaked at number 76.  It was the lone single from their self-titled debut album to hit the chart.  The band fared significantly better with their next album, The Raw and the Cooked, which they released in early 1989.  Exactly 25 years ago, the first single from that album, “She Drives Me Crazy,” hit number 1 for one week.

Fine Young Cannibals would also hit number 1 with their next single, “Good Thing,” and their third single, “Don’t Look Back,” peaked at number 11.  They would also hit the Hot 100 with two more singles from the album, though neither cracked the Top 40.  Fine Young Cannibals would not return to the chart after those singles, and in 1992 the band broke up.
