The Belle Stars
British band The Belle Stars first hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in 1983, as “Sign Of The Times” peaked at number 75.  That song appeared on the only studio album the band ever made, and when no other singles made it to the Hot 100, it might have appeared to be the end of the band’s run in the U.S., though they did have a handful of Top 40 hits in the U.K. surrounding “Sign Of The Times.”
Six years later, though, well after the band had split up, one of the tracks from their album was featured in the film Rain Man. That track, “Iko Iko,” provided a reappearance for The Belle Stars on the Hot 100, and this time they did considerably better.  Exactly 25 years ago, “Iko Iko” peaked at number 14 to become the group’s most successful single in the U.S.
