The Dave Clark Five
Exactly 50 years ago, the Beatles were in the middle of Beatlemania and held the top three spots on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. They weren’t, though, the only act with multiple Top 10 hits that week. The Dave Clark Five, who were the next big act to follow the Beatles in what would become known as the British Invasion, also had two hits in the Top 10.  Their first charting single, “Glad All Over,” hit its peak position of number 6, while one position lower, their second charting single, “Bits and Pieces,” stood at number 7, working its way up to a peak position of number 4.
The Dave Clark Five would follow these two Top 10 hits with six more, all between 1964 and 1967. They added six more Top 20 hits over that same time period. Among these singles, the band’s biggest hit was “Over and Over,” which hit number 1 for one week in the last week of 1965.
