Exactly 25 years ago, “The Mayor Of Simpleton” by XTC began its descent on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart from a peak position of number 72 by falling three notches to number 75. Though the band released its first album, White Music, in 1978, “The Mayor Of Simpleton” marks XTC’s only appearance on the Hot 100.
