The Murmaids
Among one-hit wonders, Los Angeles-based trio the Murmaids ranks pretty high. The vocal group, which consisted of three teenage girls, two of whose father was a song composer, hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart just one time — in late 1963 and early 1964 with “Popsicles and Icicles.” Exactly 50 years ago, the song peaked at number 3 for two weeks.
