The One I Love
Exactly 25 years ago, R.E.M. peaked at number 9 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with their first Top 10 hit, “The One I Love.” The first single from the band’s Document album would be the first of four Top 10 hits for R.E.M., the biggest of which was “Losing My Religion,” which peaked at number 4 in 1991. R.EM. also hit number 6 with “Stand” in 1989 and number 10 with “Shiny Happy People” in 1991.
As you likely know, the Athens, Georgia-based act broke up a little over a year ago after three decades together.
