Title Title on the Tenth: Drive
This past month, George Michael defeated Timmy T to win the Title Title for “One More Try.” This month, the Title Title is going to hook up thematically with one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Every May, the Indianapolis 500 draws thousands of spectators to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and millions of viewers around the world. In keeping with that, this month’s Title Title will focus on songs titled “Drive.”
Over the years, three songs titled simply “Drive” have hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. In the fall of 1984, the Cars scored the biggest hit of their career as their song titled “Drive” reached number 3. Eight years later, in late 1992, R.E.M. peaked at number 28 with their song titled “Drive.” Fast-forward another eight years, and Incubus charted with their song titled “Drive,” which eventually peaked at number 9 in July 2001 with what was the band’s only Top 40 hit.
