Title Title on the Tenth: Steppin’ Out
Over the past few years, Tunesmate has periodically featured competitions we call Title Titles. In a Title Title, we compare two or more different songs that have the same title, and you vote on which song you think does the title more justice — in other words, which song with that title is better. Starting today, we’re going to make this a monthly feature called “Title Title on the Tenth.” Every tenth day of the month, we’ll post a new Title Title (and maybe we’ll bring back some of the old ones). You’ll be able to vote over the next month, and then with the next Title Title, we’ll announce the previous month’s winner.
Since we’re “stepping out” with this as a new monthly feature, let’s use that as this month’s Title Title theme. Below are three hits that all use the title “Steppin’ Out.” First is Paul Revere and the Raiders, who peaked at number 46 with their “Steppin’ Out” in 1965. Second is Neil Sedaka, who reached number 36 in 1976 with the title track to his Steppin’ Out album. Third is Joe Jackson, who had the biggest hit of his career when his “Steppin’ Out” reached number 6 in 1982. You can check out all three songs below.
