In this past month’s Title Title, Cyndi Lauper beat out Chris Montez and  Timmy T as the best song titled “Time After Time.” For this month, the Title Title is connecting thematically with the World Cup, which is scheduled to end this Sunday, when either Germany or Argentina will claim to be the top of the world of soccer. With that in mind, this month’s Title Title features songs title “Top Of The World.”
In Hot 100 history, four songs named “Top Of The World” have hit the chart. The biggest hit was the first — the Carpenters‘ number 1 hit from 1973. Nearly two decades later, in 1991, Van Halen hit the Top 40 with their “Top Of The World,” which peaked at number 27. Later that decade, “Top Of The World” by Brandy featuring Mase just missed the Top 40, peaking at number 44 in 1998. Most recently, in 2009, Pussycat Dolls peaked at number 79 with their song with the title.
